Father's Day is a special occasion to honour the incredible dads and father figures in our lives. This year let's go the extra mile to make Dad feel loved and appreciated. Spoiling him doesn't have to be extravagant or expensive - it's the small gestures that make a big impact. Here are 10 thoughtful ways to spoil Dad and create lasting memories on this special day.
1. Do His Favorite Activity:
Plan a day dedicated to your dad's favourite activity. If he enjoys fishing, go to the jetty or the beach where you can spend quality time together in nature. At the end of the day, enjoy sharing a delicious meal of fresh fish and fun banter after your day out. Or if Dad enjoys working in his car, spend the day in the shed tinkering and chatting. UberEats some lunch over and enjoy his favourite local grub!
2. Wash His Car:
Take the responsibility of cleaning Dad's wheels off his hands. Surprise him by giving his car a thorough wash, both inside and out. He'll appreciate the effort. Or, have a professional come to Dad's house and treat him to a full car detail.
3. Play His Favorite Sport:
Take Dad to the park or a sports center and gather other dads for a friendly game of his favourite sport. Whether it's football, basketball, or cricket, spending time bonding and chewing-the-fat with mates (and their kids) will make his day truly memorable.
4. Cook His Favorite Breakfast:
Surprise Dad with a hearty breakfast made just for him. Whip up his favourite pancakes, eggs, or any dish that he loves. Start his day off with a delicious meal and make him feel loved right from the morning.
5. Have a simple family BBQ:
Fire up the Barbie and have a classic feast with all his favourite dishes (Argh, I promised myself I wouldn’t mention “Barbie” in any of our posts... because THE WORLD HAS GONE BARBIE MAD! So please ignore that little slip up - Thanks). Create a relaxed atmosphere where he can sit back and enjoy delicious food. It's the perfect way to spend an afternoon together, indulging in good food and great conversation (and not a “Barbie” in site).
6. Go for a Phone-Free Walk:
Take Dad on a leisurely stroll in the park, beach, or simply ‘round-the-block. But here's the catch: make it a phone-free walk (eeeek). Reminisce about old times, and truly be present in the moment with your dad. It's a simple yet meaningful way to connect. Take the dog too, because, why not.
7. Watch His Favorite TV Show:
Sit down with Dad and watch his favourite TV show or a movie of his choice. Get the popcorn, and beer nuts and kick back with Dad for the day.
8. Offer Handyman/woman Help:
If your dad appreciates some assistance around the house, surprise him by arriving with your tool kit. Ask him if there's any repair jobs he needs help with. Spend the day tackling those small projects together, offering your support and expertise.
9. Clean His House:
If your dad lives alone, show up at his house and spend a few hours sprucing up his place. Do the dishes, pull some weeds in the garden, organize his shed (be careful with this one though, if you Dads like mine, he knows exactly where things are. On second thought, forget the shed!). Simply offer a helping hand with any chores he might be struggling with. End the day by sitting down together, sharing a cold drink, and enjoying each other's company.
10. Send a Little Gift Box:
If you can’t physically be with Dad, surprise him with a thoughtful gift box. We have a great selection of Men’s gift boxes, and over 100 products to easily create your own with items especially chosen for Dad.
BONUS IDEA (my favourite)…
11. Go Out for His Favorite Cheap Eat:
Explore your local food scene and take your dad to his favourite cheap eat spot. If he has a particular fondness for laksa, make it an adventure to find the best laksa in town (my dad and I have our secrets! Reach out if you would like me to share them with you). Visit different restaurants, try their variations, and enjoy this gastronomic treasure hunt together.
This Father’s Day let's go beyond simple gifts and make Dad feel truly spoiled and loved. Remember, it's the thought and effort that count the most. Show him how much you care by spending quality time together and making him feel like the extraordinary man he is. Happy Father's Day!
